  DALE PHILLIPS, President and Designated Broker of Mark-Taylor Residential

Phillips brings a diverse professional background to Mark-Taylor that includes resort management, restaurant management, advertising and construction, including positions with Red Lion Inns and Del Webb Corporation. Those combined skills have provided a perfect foundation for leading the company in a strong growth curve, expanding the development and management of apartment communities while acquiring third-party management accounts.

Phillips joined Mark-Taylor in 1995 and is credited with introducing a team approach to Mark-Taylor client asset management, including finance, marketing, and operations. The award-winning company promotes an entrepreneurial culture where the employees are empowered to create innovative programs that improve efficiencies, customer satisfaction and profitability.

Dale is on the Board of the Arizona Multi-housing Association, the Advisory Board of the National Multi Housing Council and a member of the National Apartment Association.

 
       

  CLAY DEMARA, Chief Financial Officer

Demara, a certified CPA, is responsible for the management of the accounting staff, financial reporting, tax planning and compliance for all Mark-Taylor Companies and affiliated investment entities. Clay has extensive experience in multi-family, corporate and industrial finance and accounting along with an advanced systems background with most major property software applications.

Prior to joining Mark-Taylor, Demara was a Regional Controller at Graystar and also served as Controller at Schirmer Management & Development. Clay has a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan and is a member of the Arizona Multi-housing Association.

 
       

  JOHN CARLSON, Asset Manager

John joined Mark-Taylor Residential in 2002 and currently manages a portfolio of 8 apartment communities, totaling 2,300 units. His diverse background includes on-site property management, financial and operational management and as a manager with V-Tek, Inc., he designed electronic component solutions and conducted training/set-up programs throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Central America and Africa.

John received his Associates Degree in Electronics from South Central Technical College in 1998 and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001 from Concordia College. He is a Licensed Real Estate Agent in Arizona and a member of the Arizona Multi-housing Association.

 
       

  KATHLEEN DANUSER, Asset Manager

Kathleen joined Mark-Taylor in 1996 as a community manager for a property in New Mexico and has worked at various Mark-Taylor communities both large and small. She brings with her over 17 years of experience in property management including multi-site, new construction, condo conversion and rehab projects in both California and Arizona. Prior to property management, she was a district supervisor with General Telephone Company managing new product development and directory distribution.

Kathleen is a member of the Arizona Multi-housing Association, a Certified Apartment Manager through the National Apartment Association and is a Licensed Real Estate Agent in Arizona.

 
       

 

Jay Dassele, Asset Manager

Jay began his career with Mark-Taylor in 2000 in a premiere Mark-Taylor community. After quickly proving his leasing and management capabilities, Jay was handed the keys to manage a multi-million dollar asset. Still, Jay asked for more, and earned the responsibility to oversee management of multiple sites in the Keirland area.

After serving five solid years as a multi-site manager, Jay was most recently tapped to take on the role of asset management. Now with 6 communities in his portfolio, Jay is poised and ready to deliver direct results for his owners and co-workers alike.

Jay's key achievements include handling the complicated task of assisting one of the most publicized sales in the history of apartment management in Arizona; working closely with brokers and owners to ensure the successful transaction of an 18 community/4471 unit package sale in 2005.

Jay has also directed three successful lease-ups during his tenure, reaching occupancy goals quickly while maximizing rents and revenue. Perhaps Jay's greatest accomplishment has been his ability to create career paths for his people, developing and educating them to reach their highest potential.

Jay is proud recipient of a Arizona Multi-housing Association's Team Achievement Award, Best Community Award and has served as a two-time nominee for Manager of the Year.

Jay is CAM certified through the Arizona Multi-housing Association and is licensed in real estate in the state of Arizona.

 
       

 

MICHAEL WILSON, Asset Manager

Michael Wilson has been an integral part of the Mark-Taylor team for more than six years, bringing a host of successes to his teams, our owners and the company overall. As a manager, he’s played key roles on many sides of the table, during challenging property sales and lease ups for existing and new properties. As an asset manager, he sits in an ideal position to work closely with onsite teams and his owners to set high standards and achieve outstanding results.

Michael’s long list of credentials include his Certified Apartment Manager Designation (CAM), National Apartment Leasing Professional Designation (NALP) an Arizona Real Estate License, and his Series 7 and 66 licenses. In addition, Michael was a proud recipient of the Mark-Taylor Residential Team Achievement Award in 2004.

Michael is no stranger to working with people to help them meet financial goals. Prior to joining Mark-Taylor, Michael served as a financial advisor, and oversaw investment plans for the national firm, AXA Advisors. This perspective, coupled with his on-site management experience puts owners at ease knowing Michael is keeping his teams focused and accountable.

As a Security Forces Specialist, Michael also served with the 188th Tactical Fighter Wing in the Arkansas Air National Guard, operating in various field environments, from 1995-2001.

Michael received his B.A. at the  University of Arkansas with a double major in Sociology & Criminology and a Minor in Business.

 
       

  TINA MAKSSOUR, Director of Sales & Training

Tina heads up the Sales and Training department for Mark-Taylor. A 7-year Mark-Taylor veteran, Makssour has managed several Mark-Taylor properties and most recently was the Community Manager for the company’s San Marbeya apartment community in Tempe, Arizona.

Makssour is responsible for the planning and implementation of on-site courses for the company’s 225 employees, with an enhanced emphasis on management training. The company has a deep focus on customer service, sales and professional growth, which mandates a strong training curriculum.

Makssour earned the distinction of the Mark-Taylor 2003 Manager of the Year, and also was honored with the Mark-Taylor Team Achievement Award in 2002. She is a National Apartment Association Certified Apartment Manager and holds a masters degree from Southern Methodist University.

 
       

  ROGER NAHRGANG, Director of Service Support

Roger is responsible for the property maintenance standards for all of Mark-Taylor's communities. He trains, mentors, guides and instructs his service teams to ensure the highest level of maintenance quality is achieved at all times.

Prior to joining Mark-Taylor more than ten years ago, Nahrgang owned a successful maintenance company servicing commercial and residential customers. He also enjoyed a 22-year Army career where he specialized in artillery training programs.

Nahrgang has been honored as Mark-Taylor Service Manager of the Year, received the Mark-Taylor award, the Arizona Multi-housing Service Manager of the Year award and the Arizona Multi-housing Team of the Year award. He attended Winona State College in Minnesota.

 
       

 

KIM ATKINSON, Director of Marketing & PR

Kim Atkinson joined Mark-Taylor in 2006 to head up marketing and public relations, bringing more than 15 years of marketing communications experience to the team. Kim’s chief responsibility is to increase awareness of the Mark-Taylor brand by generating buzz, traffic and leads for each community. Kim oversees the look and feel of the brand and evolves Mark-Taylor’s leading edge website, which continues to gain critical acclaim throughout the industry.

Recently, Kim led the corporate communications team for Cold Stone Creamery, America’s fastest-growing ice cream franchise. Prior to that, she oversaw the company’s public relations and field marketing division, helping Cold Stone grow the brand through grass roots efforts and community-based programs.

Prior to her PR career, Kim wore various hats at several of the Valley’s television stations, where she wrote and produced news segments and developed promotional campaigns for the stations and their advertisers. She was honored with a Rocky Mountain Emmy Award in 1997.

Kim studied political science at Arizona State University, and lives in Scottsdale with her husband Blake, and their baby daughter Kaycee.
